Abstract: In order to overcome the deficiency of simplex optimization algorithm, the optimized design program of ship lines with own intellectual property was developed by combining the genetic algorithm (GA) and nonlinear programming (NLP) method. In the optimization process, the hybrid optimization algorithm was proposed with wavemaking resistance as the objective function, with an appropriate displacement as a basic constraint condition and the parameters of hull form modification function as design variables. At last, the numerical optimization examples for Wigley hull form were provided, which indicates that the result of hybrid optimization algorithm is more excellent than the simplex optimization algorithm in the time and effect. In the preliminary design of a ship, the algorithm can provide the theoretical foundation and technical support for selecting the lines of ships.
