Abstract:

Large settlement occurs in soft clay foundation due to surcharge loads, which will affect the behavior of the pile foundation in site and nearby. Negative piles were studied by FEM considering the pile-soil slippage and consolidation of soil. Then settlement, side displacement, and axial force of piles were discussed and analyzed by using different contact surface of two examples. The comparison between the numerical analysis and in-situ tests shows the efficiency of the method and demonstrates some rules of soil settlement, pile axial force and moment, which can be used in engineering design.
