Application of Genetic Algorithm in Site Selection of Municipal Sewage Sludge Treatment and Disposal Projects

Abstract: Aiming at solving the problems of site selection for sewage sludge treatment and disposal projects in bigger cities, this paper established a mathematical model which is in accordance with the principle of minimum cost for project and analyzed the solution of objective function. By taking the example of site selection process of Xi’an sewage sludge treatment and disposal projects which have adopted the technology of sintering brickmaking by using sewage sludge, it simplifies and optimizes the alternative plans of site selection process through the theory of genetic algorithm. On the basis of traditional methods of decisionmaking, it selects 1-5 sites of sewage sludge treatment and disposal projects out of the 15 alternative sites which include the site selection, corresponding scale of production, transportation fees and path etc. Finally, the paper suggests setting up 3 sewage sludge treatment and disposal projects which can provide scientific basis for the site selection.
