Integrated design of Under-and Above-ground Urban Space:Strategies for Effective Development of Underground Space

Abstract: This thesis discussed the feature, type, impacts and development trend of Chinese underground public space in the urbanization background. Through the analysis of the main influencing factors, the thesis indicates that aboveground space provides a basis for the development of underground part. Then it focuses on the design strategies of integrated underground and aboveground urban public space from two aspects —— space morphology and integration model. Finally, the research summarized the main approaches to realize the integrated design, which provides reference and inspiration for effective development of underground public space.
