Abstract:

The autoignition of methyl decanoate /ethanol and methyl decanoate/n-butanol was studied under engine operating conditions. The ignition delays were measured in reflected-shock experiments at 20 bar using a heated shock tube. The mixtures are 90%methyl decanoate/10% ethanol by the volume ratio, 50% methyl decanoate/50% ethanol and 90% methyl decanoate/10% n-butanol. The ignition delays of different mixtures were studied at different equivalence ratios. With the same alcohol added, the ignition delays of different volume mixing ratios of the fuels were compared. And at the same mixing volume ratio condition, the ignition delays of different types of alcohols were also compared. Further, ethanol fuel was studied at different equivalence ratios.
