Abstract: An elastic modulus test method of nano-materials was proposed based on atomic force microscopy (AFM). AFM was also used as a tool to observe the interface microstructure of a thin coating material and a quantitative analysis of the elastic deformation was made as a result of the presence of interface phase. The research results show that the sample here has flexible interface. The microstructure distribution of the interface phase is classified as grain-boundary nano-phase, and this kind of microstructure helps to alleviate and prevent cracks, thus increasing the carrying capacity of nano coating materials. The focus is to explore how the interface microstructures influence the coating material elastic deformation.
