Abstract: In order to improve the precision of the spherical shape of conventional generative sphere grinding (CGSG), spherical shape error of CGSG was analyzed. A novel sphere grinding machine tool was developed, and a variable depth of cut sphere grinding method was introduced to decrease the sphericity error of valleyshaped. The experiment results show that the sphericity error can reach less than 5 μm by using variable depth of cut sphere grinding. The sphere can satisfy the requirements of the operating by using this method.
