Abstract: To address the pressure differential issue between compression chambers in scroll compressors, this paper proposes a tooth head recess pressure balancing configuration for the orbiting scroll. First, the type profile control equation for the tooth head recess is derived, and the recess’s geometric boundaries are determined based on the meshing motion relationship between the orbiting and fixed scrolls. Subsequently, an analytical mathematical model for scroll tooth thickness strength is established using the infinitesimal element method to investigate the load-bearing characteristics of the tooth head recess configuration under dynamic pressure excitation. Furthermore, parametric optimization design of the tooth head recess profile is conducted to obtain optimal exhaust port structural parameters, achieving pressure differential control between compression chambers. Results indicate that the scroll tooth head configuration and exhaust holes are the primary contributing factors to pressure imbalance phenomena in compression chambers; the optimal combination of recess depth, recess width, and exhaust hole diameter parameters is obtained, realizing pressure imbalance control in compression chambers while ensuring scroll tooth head strength; the findings provide theoretical basis for controlling pressure imbalance between compression chambers in scroll compressors.
