Wave-Induced Dynamic Response of Seabed and Pile

Abstract:

A coupled model was proposed to study the dynamic response of seabed and the mechanical response of pile under wave. The volume of fluid (VOF) method was used to track the free surface of water while the Navier-Stokes equations are regarded as governing equations of wave to investigate the dynamic interaction between the wave and the pile. Then, based on the CFD numerical model, a three-dimensional numerical coupled model of wave-seabed-pile was built to simulate the response of seabed and pile under wave. The seabed was treated as porous medium and characterized by Biot's consolidation theory and partly dynamic formulations. After the models were validated, parametric studies such as wave height, water depth and permeability were conducted and liquefaction potential was investigated.
