Abstract:

A three-dimensional finite element method by considering the properties of the diaphragm wall-soil interface was applied to analyze the excavation of a deep foundation pit in Shanghai soft ground. The simulation results were compared with the monitoring data as well as the simulation results without diaphragm wall-soil contact. The influence of diaphragm-soil interface on the deformation analysis of excavation was discussed. The results of simulation considering the properties of the diaphragm-soil interface show closer agreement with the measure ment data. Moreover, the model without diaphragm wall-soil contact generally gets smaller wall deformation and induced ground movement.
