Single Shear Plate Connections between Rectangular Tubular Columns and H-shaped Beams

Abstract:

This paper analyzed the performance of the single shear plate connections between rectangular tubular columns and Hshaped beams, mainly focusing on the effect of the connection on the RHS(Rectangular Hollow Section) column wall. A design principle for this connection was derived based on the theoretical calculation model established. Experiment and FEM analysis of this connection were conducted to check the accuracy of the design system and investigate the advantages and disadvantages of the connection. Then, the design formula suitable for engineers and designers was summarized.
