Abstract: A vortex lattice method was used for the blade model for the unsteady aerodynamic prediction of wind turbine during pitching motion. In order to present the change of the shape and vorticity of the wake, a time marching free wake model was used to calculate the wake trailed for the tip of the blade. The results of the test cases were compared with the experimental data available from the NREL PHASE VI rotor experiments, indicating that the model not only corrects power levels, but also predates the transient overshoots and undershoots of the rotor during pitching motion accurately.
