Abstract: To conveniently calculate the number of conflict points of different type for motorized vehicles, intersection virtual lanes and intersection quadrants were used to represent a road intersection. For T intersections and cross intersections, based on the virtual lanes and quadrants and conversion method of virtual lanes, the corresponding calculation models of conflict points of different types for motorized vehicles were developed individually. The calculation models were validated. The validation results show that the calculation models can quickly compute the number of conflict points of different types for motorized vehicles at T intersections and cross intersections, which enhances the work efficiency and provides advantages for traffic safety evaluation and safety improvement of intersections.
