Abstract: A dynamic real-time optimization (RTO) scheme based on chanceconstrained programming (CCP) was presented for a class of plant-wide processes. Chance-constrained programming is employed in the optimization problem, in which the constraints containing economic and model uncertainties are guaranteed to be satisfied at a high level of probability. The real-time optimizer based on product quality model determines the optimal setpoint for each sub-process by solving joint probability constrained problem. Simulation studies for furnace temperature setpoints optimization problem of the walking beam reheating furnace were illustrated to verify the effectiveness and practicality of the proposed method.
