Abstract: SiC particulate reinforced Mg-Zn-Zr composites were prepared by stir casting. The relationship of the compressive strength and the damping capacities of SiCp/Mg-Zn-Zrcomposites to the size of SiC particles was investigated. The results show that the compressive strength of the magnesium matrix composites can be improved when the SiC particles with an average size of 10 μm are added. The damping capacities of the composites with an average SiC particles size of 20 μm are better than those of the other composites.
