This paper briefly describes the research background of wave physics-based artificial intelligence (AI) metamaterials. The core idea of AI metamaterials is “learned sensing”. The key point of realizing AI metamaterials is how to build dynamics model of metamaterials, and analyze its association with AI model. The wave-manipulation-based AI metamaterials will open up a new way to breaking through the traditional technical problems of information perception and processing, and therefore, have broad application prospects.
