A Correlation Model of Thermal Entrainment Factor for Air Curtain in Horizontal Display Cabinet

Abstract: From dimensionless transformation, the thermal entrainment factor (TEF) for air curtain in a horizontal display cabinet is dependent on four dimensionless numbers: Reynolds number indicating effect of air curtain supply parameters, Richardson number indicating effect of ambient parameter and two other dimensionless numbers indicating effect of air curtain geometry parameters. The correlation model of TEF for air curtain in a horizontal display cabinet was developed based on the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation results, and the TEF calculated by the correlation model was compared with the measurement. The results show that the reliability validation of correlation model is good. The TEF of display cabinet predicted by the correlation model gives a maximum deviation of 11.7% and a mean deviation of -0.6% compared with the published experimental data.
