Abstract: Locator/ID separation protocol (LISP) implements endpoint mobility by deploying mobile IP (MIP) on its basic framework. Considering the disadvantages of long handover latency, high rate of packet loss and complexity in deploying, an FMLISP was introduced to achieve mobility fast handover. Similar to FMIPv6, FMLISP uses link layer mechanism to trigger handover. Considering the LISP infrastructure, the new method omits some unnecessary procedures in FMIPv6 such as new CoA allocation, duplicate address detection, and establishment of bidirectional tunnels. The simulation result shows that FMLISP has notable improvement in handover latency compared with LISP+MIP approach. Moreover, the data cache mechanism can effectively reduce the packet loss.
